The 17th Ubi Festival was held in January last year at Plaza Rizal in Tagbilaran City.|Photo: ABS-CBN The three-day 18th Ubi Festival is slated to start on Tuesday after it was postponed from late last month to an indefinite date due to additional preparations made for the event. The launching of the festival led by Gov. Edgar Chatto and Department of Agriculture 7 director Leo Cañeda wil be held at Plaza Rizal in Tagbilaran City at 12 noon. According to Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Larry Pamugas, a motorcade from the plaza to Island City Mall will be held after the ubi exhibit’s ribbon cutting. A program will then be conducted at the mall where local ubi growers, non-government organizations and representatives from the academe are expected to gather. Pamugas said that 24 localities with potential for ubi growing are expected to send delegates to join the festival.
